Peri Operative nursing is an area of specialisation that deals with the care and management of patients of all ages before, during and after a surgery. Over the years there has been a significant rise in the number of patients with different surgical procedures requiring specialist care and management. Many hospitals both in the private sector are investing on expanding their services and setting up specialised Operating theatres with all the state of the art equipment. This course will contribute to the training of nurses to manage the ever-growing patient numbers and giving everyone the best possible care available and training nurses to deliver an international standard of Peri-Operative nursing care.
This course incorporates the candidates to provide care for the patient undergoing various methods of anaesthesia. The principles of asepsis and microbiology will be emphasized to create a greater awareness in ensuring a safe environment for the surgical patient. It also addesses ethical, moral and legal issues as well as specific considerations for various types of procedures.
